The Berry women's basketball team came up with a fourth quarter surge, but it was not enough to overcome an early deficit as the Vikings fell to York (Pa.) on Sunday 58-50 at the St. Pete Classic in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The non-conference loss evens Berry's overall record to 5-5 heading into the team's second game at the Classic on Monday when the Vikings face Alverno.
Against York (10-1) the Vikings could only produce five points in the opening quarter and trailed 33-19 at the half. The third period saw Berry once again struggle to score as the Vikings were held to just six points. York took its biggest lead of the game, 51-28, early in the final stanza, but saw the Vikings make a late charge with 22-7 run in the final minutes before they ran out of time.
Delaney Noe led Berry with eight points and
Kish Chandler had seven.
