There are times in sports when finishing a game strong is more important than a fast start..
That was the case Sunday afternoon at the Cage when the Berry volleyball team opened its Southern Athletic Association clash against Rhodes coasting to wins in the first two sets, but turned in a comeback performance in the third set to claim the 3-0 decision.
The win improves the Vikings to 12-1 overall and 6-1 in the SAA heading into another conference test Wednesday at the Cage when they host Oglethorpe starting at 6:30 p.m.
Against the Rhodes Lynx, the Vikings cruised to respective 25-11 and 25-12 wins in the first two sets, but found out that Rhodes was not about to toss in the towel in the third set when the Lynx broke out to a 17-11 advantage. That, however, was when Berry regrouped and rallied to close out the set and the game 25-22.
Leading the Vikings included
Jazzy Innis, who had eight kills,
Emily Rapach recorded 22 assists,
Laura Beier collected 12 digs, and
Bella Boston and
Cypress Guenther had two blocks each.
