Box Score ROME, Ga. — Austin Brooks shot 11-for-11 from the field, making him the first Viking in Berry's Division III era to go 100% from the floor in a single-game (with a minimum of eight made shots), as the Berry men's basketball team blew past the Sewanee Tigers 77-50 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) quarterfinals.
With the victory, Berry improves to 18-8 overall, just one win off their total from last season which was the most overall wins in the Vikings' Division III era and the most since the 2008-09 season. Berry will play the winner of Hendrix and Birmingham-Southern next weekend in Danville, Ky.
Brooks led the way with 24 points. DJ Estes followed with 17 on five made three-pointers, his second-highest total of his young career. Micah Johnson also added double-figures. As a team, Berry shot 57.4% (their second-highest mark of the year), holding the Tigers to just 36.7% shooting. Berry also connected at a 43.5% clip from distance and went 71.4% from the line.
The Vikings led by 10 points at the half before blowing the game open in the second period. Berry scored 42 in the second half on an unstoppable 64.0% shooting. Brooks posted 14 points in the second period on six made field goals.
