Washington Scores Career-High, Women's Basketball Stuns BSC on Friday Night

Box Score

ROME, Ga. — Berry's Raven Washington scored a career-best 16 points on Friday night, helping the Vikings women's basketball team to a 66-54 win over Birmingham-Southern.

With the win, Berry improves to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in league play. BSC fell to 12-5 and 4-2 in conference.

McKenzie Smith also added 16 points, nothing a double-double with 12 rebounds. Madeline Sandman followed with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Berry came out scorching in the opening period, leading 22-12 after the first. The Vikings left 10 points at the free throw line in the second quarter in a forgettable foul-shooting night, but led 35-26 at the break. Berry put up another 20 points in the third and played well defensively the rest of the way to secure the win.

In the team's past two games, Berry has strung together two of their best shooting performances of the year. They shot a season-best 46.5% at Sewanee and a strong 42.4% against BSC.

Berry closes the conference weekend on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Millsaps.
