Women's Basketball Falls at Oglethorpe 62-41

Box Score

ATLANTA — The Berry women's basketball team was unable to overcome a poor shooting performance and dropped their final regular season game to Oglethorpe University by a final score of 62-41 on Saturday night. The loss snaps the Vikings' DIII-era record nine game winning streak.

The 41 points scored is the team's lowest total since a loss to Oglethorpe (20-5) back on Dec. 7th. The Vikings shot just 22.6% from the field and were 12-of-22 on free throws. Berry (13-12) was outrebounded 44-34 but won the turnover battle 15-18.

The defeat is Berry's first since they lost to Sewanee on Jan. 11th, over a month ago.

The Vikings trailed 30-22 at halftime, and were behind by only ten after Capri Frazier hit a three-pointer at the end of the third quarter to pull to 45-35. However, Berry could only muster six points in the final frame to Oglethorpe's 17.

Despite the loss, Berry will still own the #3 seed in the upcoming Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament, hosted by Millsaps.

BERRY STANDOUTS:

  • Christine Cerezola: 11 PTS, 4-of-8 FG, 2-of-4 3PT
  • Eveline Parsons: 9 PTS, 4-of-4 FT, 2 REB
