Women's Basketball Edged by LaGrange 67-65

ATLANTA — Madison Wilder scored 32 points, but the Berry College women's basketball team fell to LaGrange 67-65 to close competition at the USA South / SAA Classic on Sunday.

With the loss, the Vikings fall to 0-2 on the year while LaGrange improved to 1-1. 

The Panthers hit a jump shot with one second remaining to secure the win late. Berry held an 18-17 advantage after the first quarter, but LaGrange took control in the second to hold a 33-31 lead at halftime. Berry trailed by one point heading to the fourth, but six fourth quarter turnovers gave the Panthers the opportunity to secure the win. 

Wilder's double-double led the way as she also posted 11 rebounds. Her 32 points are the third-most in a single game in Berry's Division III era. Jana Morning followed with 11 points. As a team, the Vikings shot 43.8% from the field and 45.8% from distance. Berry had 21 total turnovers in the outing. 

The Vikings host Brevard on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the team's home opener.
