ROME, Ga. — The Berry College men's basketball team lost their third game of the season on Tuesday night, falling to the Guilford College Quakers by a score of 68-58.
Caleb Haynes led the Vikings with a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Cory Johnson was the only other Viking to score double-figures, posting 11. A balanced scoring attack for Guilford saw four players reach double figures.
Berry struggled offensively, scoring their fewest points in a game this season while shooting 37.3% from the field. They made just 6-of-31 from behind the arc and were out-rebounded 41-36.
Guilford opened the game with a 15-2 lead before Berry battled back to make it 29-25 Quakers at halftime. It was still a four-point game as late as 9:35 left in the second half, but Guilford pulled away late and led by as many as 15 before the final score of 68-58 was reached.
The Vikings fall to 7-3, while the Quakers improve to 6-4.
