Box Score SAN ANTONIO — The Berry College football team suffered its first regular-season loss in over two years on Saturday afternoon, falling to Trinity University 21-17 after a Tigers touchdown with under a minute to play.
Berry's winning streak will halt at 24-straight regular-season victories.
Berry closes the regular season 9-1 and will open competition in the NCAA Playoffs on Nov. 17. The Vikings learn their opponent during the NCAA Selection Show tomorrow evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither team was able to score in the opening quarter, but Trinity finally struck first on a 42-yard field goal halfway through the second period.
- Mason Kinsey then caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Heath Burchfield to put Berry up 7-3.
- Kinsey then broke loose just before halftime for a 64-yard touchdown reception to put the Vikings up 14-3 heading into the second half.
- Trinity added a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter before Chris Stewart hauled in a 74-yard touchdown reception to tie the game.
- Trey Gregory added a 37-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, but a Peyton Tuggle touchdown catch with under a minute to play would seal the Tigers' 21-17 victory.
