Women's Soccer Falls to Sewanee 1-0

MOUNT BERRY, GA. - The Berry College women's soccer team fell to SAA opponent Sewanee, 1-0, on Saturday. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a scoreless first half, Sewanee's Shelby Meckstroth scored early in the second half to put the Tigers up 1-0.
  • Berry's goalkeeper, Melissa Sanchez had 5 saves on the afternoon to keep Berry in the game. 
  • Sewanee bested Berry in shots, 15-14.
 BERRY STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:
  • Melissa Sanchez: 5 saves
  • Addy Cronan: 4 shots, 2 shots on goal
  • Maggie Midkiff: 2 shots, 1 shot on goal

SEWANEE STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Samantha Bourgeois: 8 saves
  • Baker Walls: 1 assist
  • Sofia Olenchek: 2 shots, 2 shots on goal, 1 goal

NOTABLES:

  • The Vikings move to 4-4 on the season. 
  • The Tigers improve to 4-5 overall.

UP NEXT:

The Vikings will play at Piedmont College on Wednesday to take on the Lions at 7:00pm.
