ROME, Ga. -- Lizzy Jones scored five goals and passed one assist as the Berry College women's lacrosse team defeated Oglethorpe University, 15-3, on Wednesday night.
The win improved the Vikings to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the Southern Athletic Association. The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-11 and 0-5.
Both Ashley Kesselring and Savannah Robar each added three goals apiece for the Vikings as well. Robar also passed five assists and picked up four groundballs.
Four other Vikes added a goal to round out the BC scoring: Clara Bissell, Keiley Ayers, Angelica Miller and Kelsey McAnnally. McAnnally passed the final assist in the win as well.
McAnnally scored less than a minute into the first half to give BC an early 1-0 lead. The Vikes never trailed and were ahead, 9-2, at halftime.
Tate Davis, Sydney Sparks, and Juliana Altman scored the lone goals of the game for the Stormy Petrels.
OU's Daniel Hoban (2-9) collected 15 saves in her 60:00 minutes of work. Berry's Ella Makin (8-6) earned the complete-game win in goal, collecting three saves.
The Vikings led the game in draw controls (14-6), shots (37-8) and ground balls (14-10). BC also forced 26 OU turnovers to their 18.
Berry will host Rhodes College in their final regular season SAA match-up on Saturday, April 16. The game will be the women's lacrosse team's Pack the House Event and will begin at 1 p.m.
