BC Women's Lacrosse Comeback Falls Short at Centre

Box Score

DANVILLE, Ky. -- The Berry College women's lacrosse team rallied late, but came up short at Centre College, 12-8, on Sunday.

The Vikings fell to 3-2 and 1-1 in Southern Athletic Association play. The Colonels moved to 3-1 and 1-1 in the SAA.

Lizzy Jones paced the Berry attack with a three-goal hat trick. Savannah Robar tallied two times and earned one assist. Kelsey McAnnally added two scores for the Vikes.

Berry never led in the game and trailed 5-3 at halftime. Centre scored the first goal of the final period before the Vikings rallied with three straight scores. With 23:27 left in regulation Ashley Kesserling tallied off a pass from Keiley Ayers to reduce the deficit to 6-5, but Berry got no closer.

The Vikings led in shots, 21-19, yet the Colonels had the edge in ground balls (22-21) and draw controls (12-9).

Hannah Bellamah had a match-best six points (3 goals, 3 assists) to lead Centre.

Berry is off until March 8 when they play at Linfield (Oregon) to open a three-game road trip in the Pacific Northwest.
