Women's Basketball Rolls to 79-40 Win over Wesleyan

MACON, Ga. - The Berry women's basketball team downed Wesleyan with a 79-40 final on Wednesday night, improving to 4-3. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Vikings dominated in nearly every category including rebounds (52-29) and assists (17-10) while also shooting 46.0% from the field
  • Berry made the most of its opportunities from the charity stripe, shooting 15-16 on free throws 
  • The Vikings also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 26 points on takeaways. 
  • The 40 points in the paint marked a season-best
  • Berry never trailed in the contest

  • Kristin Rampersad: 13 points, 3-7 FG, 3-5 3FG, 3 AST
  • Alex Kiernan: 10 points, 5-5 FT, 7 REB
  • Alex Weems: 9 points, 3-10 FG, 11 REB
  • Casey Brooks: 8 points, 4-6 FG

WESLEYAN STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Alyssa Whitford: 9 points, 4-6 FG
  • Breyonna Raymond: 9 points, 4 REB
  • Justice Thigpen: 8 points, 8 REB
  • Alexis Russell: 4 points, 2 REB

NOTABLES:

  • Kristin Rampersad moved into the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) top five in points per game with 12.7
  • Although conference play has yet to pick up, the Vikings have the second-best record in the SAA behind Hendrix at 4-2. 
  • Berry put in its best defensive performance since Nov. 17, 2014 when they beat Wesleyan 106-31.
