Canalis Earns 300th Win as Women's Soccer Defeats BSC, 2-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Head Coach Lorenzo Canalis won his 300th career game, as the Berry College women's soccer team defeated Birmingham-Southern College 2-0 on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Vikings outshot the Panthers, 24-9.
  • Berry also added 6 corner kicks to BSC's 2.
  • Maggie Midkiff opened up scoring in the 50th minute to move the score to, 1-0,
  • Samantha Schoppy then added the final tally of the game in the 52nd minute to ensure the, 2-0, victory.

BERRY STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Midkiff: 8 shots, 2 shots on goal, 1 goal
  • Schoppy: 2 shots, 2 shots on goal, 1 goal
  • Ansley Rushing: 3 shots, 2 shots on goal
  • Melissa Sanchez: 2 saves
BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN STANDOUTS:
  • Libby Groark: 9 saves, 2 goals allowed
  • Eva Byrum: 6 shots, 2 shots on goal
  • Jenny Kastner: 2 shots

NOTABLES:

  • The Vikings improve to 8-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Southern Athletic Association.
  • The Panthers fall to 6-10 and 2-4.
