Women's Soccer defeats Agnes Scott, 6-1

ROME, Ga. - - Led by Lynnsey Danford's two goals--and three assists by Emily Nixon--the Berry College women's soccer team defeated Agnes Scott College, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

Danford scored in both the thirteenth and twenty-eighth minutes, adding the second and fourth Berry goals. Her first goal was assisted by Nixon.

The win improved the Vikes to 6-2-1. The loss dropped the visiting Scotties to 3-7.

Samantha Schoppy and Maggie Midkiff also added goals for the Vikes in the first half.

Schoppy found the back of the net in the eighth minute off of a pass from Nixon. Midkiff's unassisted goal in the twenty-seventh minute was her seventh of the season and came off a direct kick from 35 yards.

The Scotties' Sarah Fisher rounded out the first half scoring with Agnes Scott's only goal of the game in the thirty-eighth minute, moving the score to, 4-1.

Michaela Routh scored the fifth Berry goal of the game with a left-footed shot from twenty-yards out in the forty-seventh minute.

The Vikes' finished their scoring with a team goal in the fifty-third minute, pushing the final score to 6-1.

BC led the game in both shots (21-1) and corner kicks (4-2).

Melissa Sanchez collected the victory in goal for the Vikes.

BC will face Centre College in their next game on Sunday, October 4. Game start is at 2:30 p.m. at Ford Field.
