Vikings Fall to LaGrange, 58-48

ATLANTA -- Emma Cook scored 16 points and had six rebounds, but Berry College lost to LaGrange College, 58-48, on Saturday at the SAA/USA South Challenge.

The Panthers improved to 3-2 and the Vikings fell to 2-3.

Cook was 5-of-9 shooting and made 6-for-8 from the free throw line. 

Lauren Johnson netted a game-high 19 points for the Panthers. Cook and Johnson were the only players to reach double digits for points in the game.

LaGrange held a 24-19 lead at halftime and led by as many as 12 points in the game. Berry, however, cut the deficit to five points twice in the fourth period. The last time was after Valerie McLure made a layup with 5:36 remaining.

For the game, the Panthers shot 44-percent (21-48) to Berry's 34-percent (16-47).

The Vikings had a 32-21 edge in rebounding. McLure grabbed a game-best eight rebounds and contributed eight points for Berry.

Berry plays Piedmont on Sunday afternoon. The game begins at 2 p.m. at Oglethorpe University.
