ROME, Ga. -- In their first home competition of the 2015 year, the Berry College swimming teams swept Milligan College on Saturday. The BC men won 182-19. The women prevailed, 107-93. The meet against the visiting Buffalos was the Vikings' final dual meet of the season.
The afternoon was highlighted by several record-breaking swims, standout performances, and exceptional wins from both Berry teams.
Freshman Mac Stovall set a new pool record in the men's 1650 freestyle with a 17:46.92. Senior Johnathon Purdy lowered his own pool record in the 50 freestyle with a 21.29.
"I'm very pleased with our swims today," said Berry Head Coach Paul Flinchbaugh. "We overcame a tough week of illnesses, but still put together some great performances despite missing many key swimmers."
Berry hosts the annual Viking Classic next weekend. The two-day meet begins at 5 p.m. on Friday.
