DANVILLE, Ky. -- The Berry College men's and women's swimming teams competed at the 2015 Centre College Colonel Classic over the weekend. Results

This two day meet featured a three-session format and hosted four men's teams and five women's teams. Competing in the meet along with Berry were the Centre College men and women, Franklin College men and women, Asbury University men and women and St. Catharine College women.  Final team scoring found both the Viking Men and Women finishing in third place.  Senior Johnathan Purdy and sophomore Robbie Ellwanger both scored among the top five point scorers of the meet.

"This meet comes on the heels of a strong winter training trip and kicks off championship season for us," said Vikings' Head Coach Paul Flinchbaugh. "It was exciting to watch both the men and women post strong times throughout the meet and fight hard for many close races. We look forward to the same effort next month at the SAA Championship meet."

An interesting note on the meet is that Assistant coach Trevor Ehrenheim graduated and swam for Asbury University. As recently as three years ago Coach Ehrenheim competed against the Vikings at this very meet only now to return and coach against his alma mater.

"It is always great to see some familiar faces around the pool," Ehrenheim said. "Reconnecting with old teammates and coaches at the Colonel Classic has been one of the many highlights of my time here at Berry. It reminds me of how strong the bonds formed through swimming can be, and encourages me to give that same experience to the swimmers I'm working with now,"
