ROME, Georgia - - With two goals on the afternoon, Maggie Midkiff led the Berry College women's soccer team to their tenth straight win in a row as they beat Sewanee, 2-0, on Saturday. With the win, BC won the Southern Athletic Association regular season championship.

The Vikings finished their regular season with a 15-2 overall record and a perfect 7-0 in the SAA. The loss dropped the Tigers to 12-5 and 5-2.

Both teams fought hard and were evenly matched throughout the first half, ending with the score tied at 0-0.

Midkiff found the back of the net in the 51st minute. Her impressive left-footed blast came from about 30 yards out. Unassisted on the play, Midkiff fired the ball over the goalie's head, putting the Vikings ahead 1-0.

Midkiff then scored again in the 83rd minute on a pass from Chandler Maddox. Maddox deftly played the ball through two Tiger defenders to reach Midkiff. The goal was Midkiff's 22nd of the season.

Berry held the edge in shots (11-8) and corner kicks (3-2).

Nikki Johnston had two saves in the loss for the Tigers. Melissa Sanchez and Jackie McGivney each had a save in the win for Berry. The shutout was the 13th of the season for BC.

The Vikings compete next on Friday, November 7, to open up the SAA Quarterfinals in Danville, Kentucky. Top-seeded Berry will face #8 Millsaps in its first game.
