BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Maggie Midkiff had both goals as the Berry College women's soccer team won at Birmingham-Southern College, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon. BC is in first place in the SAA, one-half game ahead of Rhodes.
The win improved the Viking's record to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in Southern Athletic Association play, extending their winning streak to seven games. The shutout was the 11th for the Vikings this year. The loss dropped the Panthers to 8-4-1 and 2-2.
The game was scoreless at halftime.
The Viking's hard work finally paid off in the 63rd minute when Midkiff found the back of the net, putting BC up 1-0. Hailey Hendrickson earmed the assist on the scoring play.
Midkiiff scored on a pass from Chandler Maddox in the 73rd minute for the game's final tally.
For the game, the Vikings led in shots (13-8) and corner kicks (5-1).
Jackie McGivney and Melissa Sanchez shared the shutout for Berry. For B-SC, Katie Williams collected three saves in the loss.
The Vikings look to extend their winning-streak to eight games as they host Hendrix College Friday, October 24 at 1 p.m.
