ROME, Ga. – Berry women's basketball team defeated Southern Athletic Association opponent Birmingham-Southern College 64-60 on Sunday. Four Vikings scored double digit points.

Berry's Chanlir Segarra started her scoring with a three-point bucket to open the Vikings scoring. She ended with a game-high 17 points.

Berry improved to 12-13 overall and 6-8 in SAA games. Birmingham-Southern dropped to 12-13, 7-7 in SAA.

Lawrence The Panthers kept it close for the majority of the game, coming back from a eight-point deficit with four minutes left in the first half to make the score 31-30 at halftime.

After Birmingham-Southern tied the game at 36-36 with 14 minutes left, Berry's Alexa Evans converted the old-fashioned three-point play and Berry never looked back. Evans totaled 13 points and 3 steals in the game. BSC never regained the lead as Berry went on a 9-2 run. Chanlir Segarra (17), Mel McLean (15), Alexa Evans (13), and Tara Mullinax (10) each scored in double digits.

Following the game, senior Allison Lawrence (pictured) and Evans were honored on senior day.

"We came out focused and played well today," said Berry Head Coach Stephanie Dunn. "It was a great day as we won and honored our seniors."

Berry will square off against Birmingham-Southern again this Friday at the SAA Conference Tournament at Millsaps College.
