Box Score

ROME, Ga. -- Freshman Maggie Midkiff scored twice as Berry College bested Millsaps, 4-0, on Friday.

The win was the third straight shutout, and fourth consecutive win, for BC (12-3, 4-1 SAA). Millsaps dropped to 4-11-1 and 0-4-1.

Tessa Piety put the home team ahead in the ninth minute. After a four on MC, she fired in a left-footed shot from 25 yards for the goal.

Midkiff pushed the score to 2-0 in the 27th minute. She took a shot which was saved by Elise Davis (eight saves), but the rebound was shot-in for the tally.

Becca Proschansky assisted on the next goal. She found a streaking Midkiff on the right side and the striker connected on a hard shot. The tally was a team-leading tenth goal by Midkiff.

The final goal of the match occurred in the 43rd minute. Goalkeeper Melissa Sanchez booted a long ball about 60 yards to the feet of Kim Fischer. The senior finished and Sanchez earned the assist.

Berry led in shots (15-4) and corner kicks (4-1). Sanchez and Brooke Clement shared the shutout and both keepers had one save.

The Vikings close regular season play on Sunday. Birmingham-Southern visits for a 3:30 p.m. game. Senior day recognition takes place before the match.
