Berry Women Downed at Piedmont, 71-56

DEMOREST, Ga. --- The Berry College women's basketball team lost to tournament host Piedmont, 71-56, on Sunday. Megan Walsh led the Vikings with a game-high 16 points.

Walsh was 6-14 from the field, grabbed eight rebounds, and made all four of her free throws. Chanlir Segarra added 15 points, and Allison Lawrence chipped in 10 for Berry (1-3).

"We didn't shoot the ball well, but trailed by only four points in the second half," said Viking Head Coach Stephanie Dunn. "We played hard, but didn't capitalize on opportunities. We also got a lot of good shots, but didn't convert them."

Piedmont (3-1) held Berry to a season-low for points (56) and field goal percentage (33-percent).

The Lions led at halftime, 28-21. Berry led in rebounds, 49-41. BC, however, committed 22 turnovers to 12 for the home team. The Piedmont bench outscored Berry's, 28-6.

The Vikings return to action on Tuesday when Covenant visits the Cage Center. The home opener for Berry starts at 6 p.m.
