Women's Soccer Lost at Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Facing a Southern Athletic Association foe on the road, Berry's women's soccer could not muster any offense as it lost to Birmingham-Southern, 3-0, in a Friday evening matchup.

Amanda Babbin put Birmingham-Southern on the board first with an unassisted goal at 23:44, and the Panthers held a 1-0 edge at halftime.  In the second half, Birmingham-Southern added two more goals.  Bailey Kimbell tallied the first one at 60:19 on an assist from Devon Weldon.  The second one Jessie Sperry tacked on at 81:16 on an assist from Avery Newcomb.

Junior Blair Shupenko made two saves and took the loss in goal for Berry.  Birmingham-Southern's Richelle Byrd earned the shutout victory and tallied five saves.

Berry drops to 2-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in SAA games.  Birmingham-Southern ups its record to 9-5-1 and 4-1.

The Vikings will be back in action on Sunday when the team takes on Millsaps at 1 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.
