Coughlan Scores Game High 14 Points in 54-48 Win Over Hendrix

Brittany Coughlan scored a game high 14 points to lead Berry's women's basketball team to a 54-48 victory over Hendrix Friday afternoon at the Cage Center.

Hendrix led by as many as eight points early in the second half, but Berry clawed its way back into the game, finally tying the score 36-36 midway through the half. After the teams traded the lead, the Lady Vikings took the lead for good when Megan Walsh scored to make the score 42-40 with 8:36 remaining in the contest.

The Lady Vikings (4-7) would twice raise its advantage to seven points in the final 7:23.

Coughlan was joined in double figures by Chanlir Segarra, who scored 11 points and dished out a game high five assists.

Megan Walsh led Berry with nine rebounds.

Hendrix (2-9) was led by Jamie Tate, who scored 13 points and hauled down a game high 21 rebounds.

Katy Ashley-Pauley added 11 points and seven rebounds and Samantha Devlin chipped in 10 points and eight boards for the Warriors.

The teams combined to shoot just 23 percent from the field in the game, with Berry hitting 26 percent (20-for-76) of its shots and Hendrix scoring on just 19 percent (12-for-62) of its attempts.

However, Berry was able to hit 31 percent of its shots in the second half, while clamping down defensively and allowing Hendrix to shoot just 17 percent in the final 20 minutes to turn the tide in the contest.  

The Lady Vikings are scheduled to return to action Jan. 2 at Colorado College.
