Women's Basketball: LaGrange Defeats Lady Vikings 82-62 Saturday

Berry's Brittany Coughlan Scores Game High 20 Points

Berry guard Brittany Coughlan scored a game high 20 points, but LaGrange defeated the Lady Vikings 82-62 in a women's basketball game at the Atlanta Division III Classic, hosted by Oglethorpe University, Saturday.

LaGrange used a 21-7 run midway through the first half to break the game open, leading 35-19 with just over six minutes to go in the half before taking a 49-31 lead into the intermission.

While Berry had three players score in double figures and LaGrange had four, neither team shot exceptionally well. LaGrange hit 32 percent (27-for-84) of its shots, while Berry shot 26 percent (19-for-72).

Coughlan was joined in double figures by teammates Mel McLean and Brooke Thomas.  McLean scored 17 points and Thomas added 10.

Both Coughlan and McLean hit four 3-pointers in the contest. 

Danielle Sisk, who scored seven points, grabbed a team high eight rebounds for the Lady Vikings.

Katie Covington led the Panthers with 15 points and a game high 19 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive end.  Madison McDonald scored 14 points, Stefanie Schuck scored 12 and Rome native Summer Bush added 10.

The Panthers won the battle on the boards, 66-47. 

Berry returns to action Sunday, when the face Piedmont at 2 p.m., at Oglethorpe's Dorough Field House.
