Berry's women' soccer team surrendered two goals, one in each half, to sixth-ranked Emory in a 2-0 loss on Saturday afternoon at Ford Field. Both goals came off the foot of Emory's Emily Feldman.

"We played pretty well, considering our limitations in terms of fitness and injuries," said Berry head coach Lorenzo Canalis. "We ran into a team that was very athletic, mobile, and physical."

Feldman's first goal came at 32:30.

"Their attacker was quicker than our defender in getting the rebound," Canalis said of the goal.

After the first half, Emory led 1-0 and added another in the second half at 71:21.

"Both our keeper and defender were out of position, and [Feldman] was able to finish on an empty goal," Canalis said of Feldman's second goal.

Before the game Berry's seven seniors were honored.

"This is the class that came in on scholarship, gave up their scholarships to play this last season, and all of them stayed," Canalis said. "We owe a lot to them."

Berry recently moved its athletics program from the NAIA to the non-scholarship NCAA Division III.

The visiting Eagles outshot Berry, 15-10, and also owned the upper hand in terms of shots on goal, 6-3. Feldman led Emory with three shots while Leah Hatheway, Ally Byrd and Keri McGinnis each had two shots.

Emory's Erica Stein earned the win, making three saves along the way. Berry's Brooke Clement took the loss, recording six saves.

The Vikings will return to action on this Wednesday when they travel to face LaGrange at Panther Field, 7 p.m.
