ROME, Ga. - Berry College took advantage of an 18-7 second-half run and Megan Walsh led a solid Lady Vikings effort as Berry defeated Birmingham-Southern College 56-46 Wednesday evening at the Cage Center.
Berry (5-7) trailed 32-30 with 12:30 remaining in the game before scoring 18 of the next 25 points and easing out to an 11-point lead with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Birmingham-Southern would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Walsh led four Lady Vikings in double figures with 14 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and swatted away four shots.
Holly Compton, Alexa Evans and Brittany Coughlan joined Walsh in double figures. Compton finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while Evans scored 11 points and Coughlan chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.
Sam Davidson led BSC (8-5) with 13 points, while the Panthers' Ashton Spurgin hauled down a game-high 11 boards.
The victory avenged an 87-58 defeat at the hands of BSC on Dec. 12 in Birmingham.
Berry returns to action Saturday when they travel to the north Georgia mountains to face first-year program Young Harris College, coached by former Berry coach Brenda Paul. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
