INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Berry College volleyball team has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Championships. Berry will play Washington & Lee University (28-6) at Emory University, which hosts the eight-team regional. Game time is 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Printable bracket

"I'm just thrilled for this team. They have worked so hard to get to this point," said Head Coach Mika Robinson. "I think we are in a great position to make a deep run in the tournament."

The Southern Athletic Association does not have an automatic qualifier (AQ) to the championships until next season. The Vikings, however, received an at-large bid to the tournament.

With its 3-2 win over Hendrix, Berry (25-7) won its second straight SAA title on Sunday. Berry will travel to Atlanta on Thursday in preparation for Friday's match. The Berry-W&L match winner will face the victor of Emory-Agnes Scott. The winner of the eight-team Atlanta regional advances to the final eight at Hope College in Holland, Mich. on Nov. 22-23.

"We are familiar with playing at Emory, since we've played in their tournament the past few years," said Robinson. "Washington & Lee is a good program and they won a very good ODAC conference this year. The only common opponent we have is Centre, which beat them. But we know every team is going to bring their 'A-game' since this is the Big Dance."

Notes: Volleyball is the first Berry team to be selected for the NCAA Championships. Berry College is in its first year as an active NCAA Division III member…Berry and W&L played last season in a neutral site match at Centre College. The Generals prevailed in five sets (15-25, 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9)…The Vikings have played seven matches—and have a 3-4 record-- against 2013 NCAA tournament teams. BC has recorded wins over Maryville, Hardin-Simmons and New Paltz. The Vikings lost to Christopher Newport, Emory and fell twice to Trinity, Texas...In addition to back-to-back SAA tournament titles, Berry has captured two straight regular season crowns--going 13-1 in conference play both years.
