Vikings Fall to Second-Ranked Eagles Friday

ROME, Ga. – Berry's Claire Scott recorded a match-high 10 kills, but the second-ranked Emory Eagles swept host Berry in a Friday evening volleyball matchup at The Cage Center. Set scores were 25-17, 25-14, 25-23.

The visitors charged through the first two sets on the strength of a combined .340 attacking percentage during that span, recording .333 and .348 marks respectively. The Vikings were able to take their first lead of the match in the third set, in which Berry outhit Emory .200 to .143, but the Eagles managed to rally and earn the victory.

Berry setter Stephanie Quinn tallied 24 assists in the match, while Kristin Hargrove led all players with 10 digs.  Quinn and Kiersten Hammock also recorded three blocks apiece.

Emory was led by Amelia McCall and Breanah Bourque, both of whom finished with nine kills. Natalie Schonefeld finished with a match-high 30 assists.

Berry will return to action this Tuesday evening when it hosts Covenant at The Cage Center, 7 p.m.
