Women's Soccer Caps Regular Season With 4-0 Win Over Oglethorpe

ROME, Ga. — The Berry College women's soccer team closed the regular season on Friday night with a 4-0 victory over Oglethorpe University. The win secures at least a top-4 seed in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament and hosting rights for the Vikings' first game next weekend. 

The Vikings are now 8-4-3 overall and close conference play 4-1-2, the team's best conference record since 2014, the year Berry won the SAA regular season title. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Berry scored a pair of goals in each half. 
  • Vanessa Belanger scored the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute off a cross which ricocheted off the crossbar and in. 
  • Blair Painter then tallied in the 31st minute, giving Berry a 2-0 advantage. 
  • Haley Stewart then scored off an assist from Painter in the 59th minute to the lower left side of the net. 
  • Samantha Schoppy wrapped up scoring in the 67th minute, securing the 4-0 final .

UP NEXT:
