Women's Soccer Earns 1-1 Draw at Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Vanessa Belanger scored the lone Berry goal of the evening, as the Vikings women's soccer team battles to a 1-1 draw at Birmingham-Southern on Friday. 

Berry is now 5-4-2 on the year and 1-1-1 in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Despite out-shooting the Panthers 9-1 in the opening period, neither team was able to score. 
  • Belanger scored the first goal of the game in the 50th minute. Berry took a 1-0 lead. 
  • The Panthers answered quickly, scoring the equalizer off a goal from Amber Thompson in the 59th minute. 
  • Both teams had opportunities to score, but neither could find the back of the net in overtime. 
  • Blakley Jones earned 13 saves for the Panthers in the outing. 
  • Berry outshot the Panthers 31-5 and had six corners, holding BSC to zero.
