DANVILLE, Ky. — Falling behind early, the Berry College women's soccer team opened the season with a 2-1 loss to No. 22 ranked Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon.
Washington & Lee jumped out to a quick lead, with a goal by Megan Engeland in the 10th minute to move the score to 1-0. The Generals tacked on an additional goal in the 37th minute, pushing the score to 2-0 before the end of the first half. Megan Rodasta then opened up the second half with a goal for the Vikings in the 67th minute to cut the lead in half. The Generals took 20 total shots with Berry keeper Jackie McGivney collecting nine total saves allowing the two goals.

- With the loss, Berry falls to 0-1 on the season.
- McGivney's nine saves ranked fourth in the Berry record book for saves in a single game.
The Vikings will host Belhaven in their next matchup on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 5:00pm to kick off play in the Berry Invitational.
