Women's Soccer Holds On to Defeat Roanoke, 2-1

ROANOKE, Va. -- Maggie Midkiff scored the go-ahead goal for the Vikings in the 86th minute as the Berry College women's soccer team defeated Roanoke College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Samantha Schoppy added the second Berry goal of the day, assisted on the play by Addy Cronan

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Schoppy's goal in the 19th minute put the Vikings' ahead, 1-0.
  • The Warriors' Sara Celec added the lone Roanoke goal of the game to tie the score, 1-1, just before the second half. 
  • Midkiff's final tally ensured the Berry victory.

  • Schoppy: 2 shots, 2 shots on goal, 1 goal
  • Midkiff: 1 shot, 1 shot on goal, 1 goal

  • Schoppy added her 2nd goal for the Vikings as well.
