Women's Lacrosse Falls to Occidental to Close Spring Break

LOS ANGELES - In a high scoring matchup, the Vikings fell to Occidental on Wednesday evening with a 16-9 final. Kelsey McAnnally had a strong day, scoring three goals and passing an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The teams began trading blows early, scoring a combined 13 goals in the opening half. Berry's Keiley Ayers, Ashley Merritt, Angelica Miller and Kelsey McAnnally tallied in the first half.
  • Trailing by three coming out of the half, the Vikings scored again off a Rose Blanchard (Angelica Miller) goal, but Occidental went on a six goal run to extend the insurmountable lead.
  • Berry then scored three in the final 12 minutes, but could not cut the deficit.
  • The Vikings had 21 turnovers to Occidental's 14, but were solid on clears (14-18). Occidental also totaled 39 shots to Berry's 16.
