Centre Hands Women's Lacrosse Close 9-8 Overtime Loss

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Keiley Ayers scored four goals, but the Vikings were just edged by visiting Centre with a 9-8 final in overtime on Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Ayers notched the first goal of the game off of a free position to give the Vikings an early lead.
  • Centre then rallied off three straight goals from Haden Gibbons and Hannah Bellamah to take the lead 3-1.
  • Berry answered with three goals of their own from Angelica Miller and two more from Ayers to enter the locker room at half leading 4-3. 
  • Just out of the half, Kelsey McAnnally tallied with an assist from Ayers giving Berry a two goal advantage. 
  • Centre then notched three consecutive goals to regain the lead 6-5.
  • The teams began trading blows and with Centre up 8-7, Ayers scored right at the two-minute mark to tie the game and send it to overtime.
  • Shortly into the overtime period, Centre's Ellen Resinger scored off of a pass from Bellamah to seal the win.
