Berry defeated at Centre, 17-11

DANVILLE, Ky. -- Blair Shupenko scored four goals, but Berry College lost at Centre College, 17-11, on Saturday.

The Vikings dropped to 6-6 and 3-3 in the Southern Athletic Association. Centre (12-1, 6-0) kept its hold on the top spot in the conference. 

BC's Sara Witten (one goal, one assist) scored the game's first goal, which was the visitors' lone lead of the contest. The Vikes trailed, 9-5, at halftime.

Lizze Jones added two goals and one assist for Berry. Kelsey McAnnally tallied twice and Claire Rosenberg dished two assists and scored once for BC. 

Sarah Matsey recorded six goals and one assist for the Colonels.

Centre had the edge in shots (33-26), ground balls (16-14) and draw controls (19-11).

Berry College returns to action on Tuesday when LaGrange visits Ford Field.
