Women's lacrosse holds off Rhodes, 9-7

ROME, Ga. -- Kristan Dziurzynski scored four times as Berry College defeated Rhodes, 9-7, on Saturday.

The Vikings improved to 2-0 and 1-0 in Southern Athletic Association play. Rhodes, which was playing its first-ever varsity lacrosse game, is 0-1, 0-1.

For Berry, Claire Rosenberg scored two goals and had three asssists and Sara Witten tallied two goals and dished one assist. Freshman Kelsey McAnnally passed for two helpers. Taylor Martin made five saves in goal.

BC led in shots, 25-18. Rhodes had the edge in draws, 10-8. The Vikings led 4-2 at halftime.

RC cut the lead to 6-5 after Ashley Dill tallied with 23:07 remaining. BC, however, scored the next three goals and led 9-5 with 13:54.

The Lynx got scores for Morgan Fuller (three goals, one assist) with 2:29 and 1:01 remaining for the final margin. Sarah Daniels recorded 12 saves for Rhodes.

Berry plays at SAA foe Hendrix next Saturday.
