Vikings open with win at Methodist, 15-6

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Rachel Aiken scored four goals and assisted on two others as Berry College won at Methodist University, 15-6, on Saturday afternoon. The game was the season-opener for both teams.

Kristan Dziurzynski added four goals for the Vikings. Teammates Lizzy Jones, Angelica Miller and Kelsey McAnnally all scored twice for the visitors.

Berry held a lead of 8-3 at halftime. For the game, the Vikings had the edge in shots, 30-14. BC goalkeeper Taylor Martin stopped five Monarch shots.

Ashley Cannon recorded 12 saves for Methodist.

"We worked really hard and played well as a team," said BC Head Coach Shaun Williamson. "We also fixed a lot of the mistakes we made in Wednesday's scrimmage, which is great. Now we are focused on our first conference game next Saturday."

Berry hosts SAA rival Rhodes next Saturday at 1 p.m.
