LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following their final conference sweep of the year over Millsaps College this past weekend, the Berry College softball team remains No. 3 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll.
The Vikings are now 35-2 overall on the year, as well as a perfect 17-0 in conference play (both program records). They have scored 295 runs in just 37 games, hitting .362 as a team on the season. Berry has yet to lose a game in April, maintaining a nine-game win streak as they enter conference tournament play later this week.
Berry currently leads the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) in four individual categories, including RBIs, stolen bases, ERA and wins. The Vikings also hold 14 spots in the top five, including at least one spot in every single category.
Berry has earned SAA Player of the Week honors eight times this season. Four different Vikings have also been named National Player of the Week as well, with Berry sweeping the honors for just the second time in NFCA history back in February.
Little movement has occurred among the top five ranked teams in the poll, with both Virginia Wesleyan and Texas-Tyler sitting as the only two teams in the nation ranked higher than the Vikings.
Berry will look to continue their hot-streak as they face the winner of Birmingham-Southern and Hendrix College in the second round of the SAA Tournament on Friday, April 21 at 4:00pm.
