No. 3 Softball Completes Perfect Conference Record on Saturday

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The No. 3 Berry College softball team completed their program-record regular season with a 2-0 victory of the Millsaps College Majors to complete the series sweep.

Berry's 35-2 record in the regular season is the best in program history. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Berry's Marie Collop once again faced Kayla Davidson of Millsaps, with the game remaining scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning.
  • The pitching battle was finally broken by Berry's Kayla Sangrey who sent her first career home run over the left field wall to give Berry with 2-0 lead. 
  • Collop faced just 25 batters in her seven innings of work, allowing no runs on just three hits.

  • Kylie Aiken: 2-for-2
  • Kayla Sangrey: 1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, R
  • Elisabeth Federici: 1-for-3
  • Brittany Ferrell: 1-for-3

  • Marie Collop: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 K

MILLSAPS STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Rayne Gravat: 2-for-3
  • Kayla Davidson: 1-for-3 | 6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 3 K

NOTABLES:

  • Berry set a slew of program records this year, but most notably set the record for overall wins and a perfect 17-0 SAA record.
  • The Vikings secured the top seed in the tournament and will face the winner of BSC and Hendrix.
