DEMOREST, Ga. - Both the Berry College men’s and women’s tennis teams held on to defeat the Piedmont College Lions 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon. With the wins, the men’s team improves to 7-7 overall on the year, and the women’s team improves to 9-5.
On the afternoon, Karleigh Dills and Allie Williams earned the sole women’s doubles victory for Berry in the No. 3 doubles slot, 8-3. Sara Myers (7-6, 6-0), Kathryn Barker (6-1, 7-5), Sarah Murray (2-6, 6-4, 6-1) and Dills (6-3, 6-3) then rounded our scoring for Berry with singles victories to ensure the 5-4 win.
For the men’s team, Ryan Miner and Jordan Crance also started competition with an 8-3 win in the No. 3 doubles spot for the Vikings. Chase Gooding (6-1, 6-0), Miner (2-6, 6-4), Crance (6-7, 6-4) and Rory Glatt (6-4, 6-1) then each added singles victories as well, ensuring the 5-4 win.
Berry will take on Sewanee in their next contest on Saturday, April 14 beginning 12:00 p.m.
