Berry Tennis Sweeps Piedmont on Thursday

ROME, Ga. - Both the Berry College men's and women's tennis teams defeated Piedmont College 8-1 at the Rome Tennis Center in a Pack the House matchup on Thursday afternoon.


• All three Vikings' doubles teams of Matt Blakely and Griffin Davis (8-2), Ryan Miner and Chase Gooding (8-4) and Jordan Crance and Daniel Alligood (8-4) earned a win on the day for Berry.
• Davis (6-3, 6-4) and Miner (6-1, 6-1) each defeated Piedmont in the No. 2 and No. 3-Doubles spots, respectively, as well.
• Gooding (6-2, 7-5), Crance (6-4, 7-5) and Alligood (7-6, 6-2) then each finished the day with a singles win for Berry, ensuring the 8-1 victory.

• All three women's doubles teams also earned victories over the Lions on Thursday as well.
• Mary Cerny and Lauren Byrket earned the 8-1 victory in the No. 1-Doubles spot.
• Sage Havrilla and Emmie Cornell added an 8-2 win in the No. 2-Doubles spot, and Kelsey McCray and Karleigh Dills rounded out doubles play with an 8-2 win in the No. 3-Doubles spot as well.
• Cerny, Byrket, Havrilla, McCray and Dills each finished the day with a singles win as well, adding to the 8-1 defeat.

• With the win, the men's tennis team improves to 7-3 on the year.
• The women's team moves to 5-4 overall.

Both teams will travel to Lookout Mountain, Ga., for their next matches against Covenant College on Saturday, March 25th at 5:30pm.
