On the final day of the Savanna College of Art and Design Invitational, Berry's men's and women's swim teams finished in sixth place. The three day meet concluded Saturday with preliminary events in the morning and finals in the afternoon.
In the preliminary women's 200 yard individual medley, Julie Zimmerman took 14th with a time of 2:23.04, allowing her to go and swim in the finals, where she placed 13th with a time of 2:21.96. Zimmerman also swam the 500 yard freestyle in the prelims, placing 13th with a time of 5:34.42 before finishing 11th in the finals with a time of 5:30.99.
Kelly Dickerson and Rachel Sandoval swam the 100 yard freestyle, finishing in the top 20 in the 45-person event. Dickerson placed 13th with a time of 56.67 and Sandoval placed 20th with a time of 58.06. In the finals, Dickerson placed 14th with a time of 56.80
Dickerson went on to swim the 200 yard butterfly, placing 16th with a time of 2:27.99. She was then able to return during finals to place 16th with a time of 2:28.72.
On the men's side Graydon McCrite finished 10th in the 100 yard freestyle preliminary with a time of 50.21. He went on to swim in the finals, placing 12th with a time of 50.32. McCrite also swam the 200 yard backstroke, placing ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 2:03.95; and Alan Campbell finished after McCrite, placing 14th with a time of 2:18.33. In the finals, McCrite placed 10th with a time of 2:04.18 and Campbell placed 13th with a time of 2:16.38.
Andrew Beumer swam the 500 yard freestyle, placing 10th with a time of 5:12.35, qualifying him for the finals, where he placed 12th with a time of 5:15.94.
John Burcham and Eric Miller swam the 100 yard breaststroke, with Burcham placing ninth with a time of 1:06.57 and Miller placing 14th with a time of 1:08.64. Both were able to move onto the finals, with Burcham placing tenth with a time of 1:06.59 and Miller placing 15th with a time of 1:08.10.
Shelburne Jackson and Brandon Moore also took preliminary and final swims in the 200 yard butterfly, with Jackson placing 14th with a time of 2:29.16 in the prelims, and Moore placing 16th with a time of 3:09.66. In the finals, Jackson placed 14th with a time of 2:28.15 and Moore placed 16th with a time of 3:06.35.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Kelly Dickerson, Julie Zimmerman, Sarah Larson, and Rachel Sandoval placed 11th with a time of 2:02.61 in the finals. That group also placed seventh in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:51.30.
The men's 200 yard medley relay also got its chance to swim, with Alan Campbell, Graydon McCrite, John Burcham, and Eric Miller placing ninth with a time of 1:45.63. They came back to swim the 400 yard freestyle relay, again placing ninth with a time of 3:27. 21.
Berry is scheduled to return to action Jan. 8 at the Citrus Classic in Mesa, Ariz.
