Own Goal Gives Men's Soccer Season-Opening Victory

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The Vikings opened the 2017 campaign with a win over Pacific on the west coast on Friday night after an own goal proved costly for the Boxers.

In a strong defensive outing by both teams, Berry drew a corner kick in the 48th minute that led to an own goal off the Boxers' defense. Berry would hold for the remainder of the game to secure the shutout win. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
• Neither team scored throughout the first half, leaving the score tied 0-0 going into the second half
• Berry added 12 shots in the match, to Pacific's four.
• The Vikings also led the game in corner kicks, 3-2
• Both teams finished the game with no saves.
