MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Jake Wiliamson scored the lone goal of the matchup just under three minutes into overtime, as the Berry College men’s soccer team defeated Hampden-Sydney University, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon to open up play in the Berry Invitational.
Neither team found a way to score within the first 90 minutes of play, with the Vikings adding 15 shots in the matchup to Hampden-Sydney’s five. Berry also led the contest in corner kicks (7-5) and saves (3-2), forcing the game into overtime for the first time this season. Williamson then found the back of the net following a pass from Steven Moore in the 92nd minute, moving the score to 1-0 and ensuring Berry's victory.
