Men's soccer blanks Transylvania, 2-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Zak Wallingford and Evan Echols scored as Berry College won at Transylvania, 2-0, on Sunday.

With the win, the Vikings improved to 2-0. Transy dropped to 1-1.

Wallingford--who scored in Saturday's 1-0--tallied in the eighth minute to put BC ahead. The Vikings held the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Echols notched his goal in the 60th. He tallied on a direct free kick.

"Today was a very good performance from start to finish from everyone on the team," said BC Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We started out well and showed improvement from the Hanover game. I was pleased with our possession and great defensive discipline."

The Vikings led in shots (7-5) and Transy had the edge in corner kicks (6-5).

Jon Nelson had three saves and earned his second straight shutout for the Vikes. TU's Taylor Nossokoff stopped four BC shots.

The Vikings host the Berry College Invitational next weekend. Berry faces Ramapo (N.J.) next Saturday at 2 p.m.
