ROME, Ga. – Berry College defeated Millsaps College, 12-5, in a Southern Athletic Association quarterfinal match on Saturday.

The Vikings moved to 11-3 on the season and will play Centre College on Friday at Sewanee in the SAA semifinals. Millsaps ended its year at 6-11.

Cory Hall had three goals to lead the Vikings's offense. Bryan Byers also had three points on two goals and one assist.

Miller Hollstein and Thomas Edgeworth both scored and assisted once. Nat Morey dished a game-best two helpers in the contest.

Saturday's contest was much closer than last week's 16-5 victory at Ford Field. In the previous game BC led 11-0 before the Majors got on the scoreboard.

In contrast, this game was tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter. Berry, however, upped its advantage to 7-3 at halftime. BC tallied first in the second half and never led by fewer than five goals thereafter.

The Vikings had the edge in shots (45-21), ground balls (39-16) and faceoffs (11-8).

Jordan Boreman (five saves, four goals against)  started and played 43:25 in the cage for the home team. Nick Voso had three save and allowed one score in the final 16:35.

Simon Sherman tallied twice for Millsaps.
