Men's lacrosse handles Millsaps, 16-5
ROME, Ga. -- Christian Akers and Cory Hall tallied four times and each had one assist as Berry College cruised to a 16-5 win over Millsaps on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings moved to 10-3 and 5-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Majors dropped to 6-10, 2-5.
Berry scored early and often and held an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Vikes built an 11-0 advantage, before MC tallied twice to push the halftime margin to 11-2.
Ten different Vikings recorded points in the game. Grant Phillips had three goals and one helper. Kyle Lombardi dished a team-best two assists.
Berry led in shots (33-20), ground balls (39-21) and faceoffs (15-9).
Jordan Boreman started in the cage and improved to 10-3 on the year. Nick Voso, however, played the entire second half and recorded nine of Berry's 10 saves against his three allowed.
Prior to the game, Lombardi, Boreman, Bryan Byers, Thomas Edgeworth, Andy Kurila, Nat Morey, Cal Supik and coach Mike Voso were recognized for their contributions to the program on Senior Day.
Hunter Stevison potted three goals and had one assist for the Majors.
The two teams will square off again in the upcoming SAA Tournament. The game is on Saturday at Ford Field.
