Centre edged men's lacrosse, 12-10

ROME, Ga. – Bryan Byers and Cory Hall led the Vikings with five and three goals respectively, but the Vikings lost to Centre College, 12-10, on Saturday. Hall also tallied an assist for the home team.

Christian Akers had a notable performance with a goal and two assists for the Vikings.

Berry dropped to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in SAA play while Centre improved to 3-3 and 1-1 in SAA with the win.

The Vikings had to fight their way back from a deficit in the first quarter after they gave up three goals in the opening period.

In the fourth quarter with 6:36 remaining the Vikings managed the lead on a Byers' goal. However, Centre's Matt Hughes evened the score at 10-10 before the Vikings let in another, which ultimately sealed the victory for Centre.

Berry goalkeeper Jordan Boreman saved 12 shots and allowed 12 goals taking the loss, while Centre goalkeeper Bryce McCoy saved nine shots and let in 10 goals to earn the win.

Centre led in shots (44-27) and ground balls (30-23). Berry had the edge in faceoffs, 15-11. BC hurt itself by committing nine penalties for seven minutes. The Colonels had three minutes of penalties.

The Vikings look to bounce back at Rhodes on Friday at 7 p.m.
