French Scores Twice, But Vikings Fall to Kenyon 8-5

Berry's Brandon French scored a pair of goals, but Kenyon College built an insurmountable lead through the first three quarters of play and went on to defeat the Vikings 8-5 in a men's lacrosse game in Sanford, Fla., Saturday.

Kenyon led 4-1 at halftime, and then took an 8-2 lead into the final quarter. Berry scored three times in the game's final five minutes, but they weren't enough to keep the Vikings from dropping their third straight game and falling to 2-4 overall on the season.

French found the net once in each half for Berry. He was joined in the scoring column by teammates Cory Hall, Bryan Byers and Grant Philips, who scored once each.

Geoff Akie and Chris Pappalardo scored a pair of goals apiece to lead Kenyon, which improved to 3-2.

Kenyon outshot Berry 36-25 in the contest, and led 30-23 in the groundball category. The Lords won nine of the 15 faceoffs.

Berry goalie Jordan Boreman recorded 11 saves. Fletcher Franklin tallied eight saves and Austin Anusbigian saved one shot for Kenyon.

Berry is scheduled to return home this Thursday, when it hosts Otterbein at 3 p.m.
